Job summary
The Compliance Coordinator will assist the Manager of Outdoor Operations with a wide variety of technical and administrative work to ensure regulatory compliance of Roads, Landfill, Parks and Stormwater Systems. In addition, the Compliance Coordinator will assist the Supervisor of Roads and the Supervisor of Parks and operations staff in staying current with legislative requirements as they pertain to City Municipal owned infrastructure. This position is a contributing team member responsible for the day to day work and executing operations in line with department approved policies, plans and programs as well as efficiently meeting service standards in the delivery of municipal services. Education/Specialized Training/Skills: The position will require: A minimum of a three (3) year community college diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology or a related field, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Class G Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record in good standing, satisfactory to the employer. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Safe Water Drinking Act (SWDA), MMS O.Reg. 239/02, Municipal Act, Environmental Protection Act, CAN/CSA-Z614 standards for playground safety & regulations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), O.Reg. 424/97 under the Highway Traffic Act. Proven interpersonal skills. Proven time management skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Proven analytical and problem solving skills, sound technical and administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. A highly developed sense of professionalism, tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated respect for confidential and sensitive issues. Demonstrated customer service and public relations skills. Demonstrated ethical behaviour and business practices. The ability to work with a diverse group of individuals in a team environment. A commitment to providing high quality, cost effective services to the City and the community. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment. Strong computer skills including Google Workspace, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dayforce (or other similar software programs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software (or other similar software programs), email and internet. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong and effective analytical, critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, deemed satisfactory to the employer. Work Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of regulatory compliance experience in the field of Roads/Parks Operations, or a related field is required. Remuneration: 2026 Non-Union Salary Grid Band 7 - $85,992.35 - $93,469.95 annually. Requirements
Requires a minimum three-year community college diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology and at least four years of regulatory compliance experience. Candidates must possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence and comprehensive knowledge of various Ontario health, safety, and environmental acts.
