Job Title: Legal Assistant – Real Estate/Corporate Job Posting Number: 2026-0365 Posting Type: Internal & External Posting Period: Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. to Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Department: Legal Union: Non-Union Position Status: Regular Full-Time Job Code: NU0518 Grade/Class: NU07 Number of Positions: 1 Rate of Pay: $67,907.90 - $82,542.65 annually Hours of Work per Week: 35 hours Shift Work Required: No Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Coordinator of Streets and Alleys this position will be responsible for: Providing administrative and legal assistance to the Real Estate Services Department related to the Street and Alley Closing Program; Reviewing title searches and identifying title issues; Preparing, processing and registering Street and Alley Closing by-laws; Preparing and registering transfers, easements and other instruments in Teraview; Managing all aspects of Street and Alley transactions; Corresponding with property owners, lawyers and other stakeholders relating to Street and Alley closure applications; Compiling corporate records for application queries; Administrative support duties and general office work pertaining to clerical and administrative needs of the department in general; Confidential typing of assignments and reports; Telephone inquiries; Communicating with the public and fellow staff in a tactful and courteous manner; Displaying adaptability, ability to work independently, attention to detail, superior follow-up and organizational skills and a focus on delivering excellent customer service; Performing Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program; Performing other related duties as required. Qualifications: Must have a post secondary school Community College diploma in Paralegal or Office Administration - Legal or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of two (2) years of experience gained in a legal office performing hands-on transactional work; OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years of experience gained in a legal office performing hands-on transactional work; Must have extensive working knowledge and be proficient in Microsoft suite of programs including Word, Excel and Outlook; Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work; Prior experience using Teraview on a regular basis in the past six months is required; Prior municipal experience an asset.
