Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid) Industry: Manufacturing Position Type: Existing Vacancy About the Opportunity Our client is an established Canadian manufacturer with a growing North American footprint - The finance function is being strengthened, and this role is central to that work. This is a broad controllership mandate rather than a narrow reporting one. You will own the monthly close, financial statement preparation, the annual audit, treasury and Canadian corporate tax compliance. You will also lead the accounting team, spanning both transactional and technical accounting. The role suits someone who builds rather than maintains. There is real scope to design and enforce a framework of internal controls, tighten close timelines, improve process and systems, and develop a team that is ready for more structure. Manufacturing accounting sits at the centre of the job: costing, absorption and production variances are areas where you will be expected to bring judgment and settle how things are done. You will work closely with senior leadership, operations and external advisors, with visibility well beyond the finance function. Key Responsibilities Own the monthly close and the preparation of financial statements Lead the accounting team, setting a reporting cadence and building capability across the group Design, document and enforce a framework of internal controls Manage the annual audit end to end, including preparation of the file and resolution of findings Own cost accounting and inventory, including standard costing, absorption and production variance analysis Prepare monthly covenant and compliance reporting for lenders and ownership Manage bank positions, working capital and cash forecasting Oversee Canadian corporate tax compliance, including corporate and commodity tax filings and supporting schedules Partner with operations and supply chain on plant performance, margin and cost improvement Drive process improvement and automation, and act as the finance lead on system enhancements Support consolidation and intercompany reporting across multiple entities What You Bring CPA designation with approximately 10 years of progressive accounting experience Controller or senior controllership experience within a manufacturing environment Track record building internal controls and improving process where little structure existed Demonstrated people leadership Presence and credibility with senior leadership, operations and external stakeholders Nice to Have ERP implementation or optimization experience Background in consumer or industrial products manufacturing Exposure to multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation Experience reporting into an institutional owner Next Steps We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
