Clean Harbors in Courtenay, BC is looking for an InSite Hazardous Waste Technician to support the HHW Programs at the Cambell River and Cumberland Waste Management Centers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with packaging and consolidating waste, forklift operation and handling of hazardous materials on the customer sites. RESPONSIBILITIES * Working as an on-site waste technician for two client sites. * Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times. * Responsible for proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance. * Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance. * Operate forklift in a safe manner. * Collect, identify, segregate, and pack HHW items from both customer sites. * Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of waste hauling vehicles. * Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary. * Use Class 5 (minimum) License to operate units safely. * May be assigned additional duties not listed above based on business needs. QUALIFICATIONS * Valid Class 5 license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation. CDL is a strong asset. * Experience with environmental services/household hazardous waste strongly preferred * Experience in labor-intensive roles and working outdoors in all weather conditions * Forklift certification preferred * Safety certifications such as TDG, WHMIS, and First Aid preferred * Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Comfortable using Windows-based applications and learning new systems. * Strong customer service and communication skills.
