Position Summary New Westminster Surgical Centre is seeking an LPN to provide high-quality nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey, from pre-admission assessment to post-operative recovery and discharge. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred care. * Position type: Temporary - 12 months contract * Pay range: $33 to $40/hr * Benefits: Health & Dental Benefits * Paid Time Off Key Responsibilities * Conduct pre-admission assessments, including health history reviews, medication reconciliation, and patient screening. * Coordinate required diagnostic testing and communicate significant findings to physicians. * Admit and prepare patients for surgery, ensuring all preoperative requirements are completed. * Monitor, assess, and provide nursing care to patients in the post-operative recovery phase. * Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards. * Provide discharge education to patients and families, including medications, wound care, and follow-up instructions. * Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in care planning. * Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. * Promote a safe clinical environment and participate in quality improvement and professional development initiatives. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications * Current registration as an LPN in good standing with the applicable regulatory body. * Current BLS certification required; ACLS is an asset. Skills & Experience * Minimum one year of recent acute care nursing experience. * Previous experience in Pre-Admission, Day Surgery, PACU, or Post-Operative nursing is preferred. * Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative surgical environment while delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
