Members of the following employment equity deserving groups will be prioritized for this job: Indigenous Peoples About the role Join the Business Solutions Engineering team, in the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering position, where we are developing the next generation of software applications to enable CMHC to achieve its strategy. As a Subject Matter Expert, you will guide a team of Developers specializing in one of CMHC’s platforms. Your skills and passion for collaborative application development, programming, leading teams, user-centric design and software reliability will contribute to the development and maintenance of CMHC’s business platforms and other applications to propel CMHC forward efficiently and securely. What you’ll do: Being CMHC’s leading expert on a platform or set of application development technologies, while also guiding and advising a team of developers in their work by providing mentoring, guidance, and knowledge sharing. Interface with the client community to determine their system needs, document the current and proposed business processes, and advise clients of the proposed solutions and their impacts. Author technical specification documents and diagrams for CMHC’s platforms and custom developed applications. Develop logical and physical system models incorporating the business processes and prepare clear, concise and well-written analysis documents or program specifications. Design logically sound, readily maintained program structures based on program specifications. Completes application development projects for SSDLC implementation into production, particularly programs to be coded of higher complexity. What you should have: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. A minimum of 7 years of experience in programming, developing, and implementing business applications. This experience would be in roles and projects with increasing complexity in application development. Leading expertise in CMHC’s application development platforms/environments. This position will be CMHC’s expert in our technology platforms (see below). An advanced ability to design and implement scalable applications aligned with business goals, including setting technical standards, best practices, and reference designs. Advanced Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven architecture with a focus on Microsoft technologies. Proven interpersonal, leadership and business competencies, including teamwork, facilitation, communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills. Thrive for automation and early feedback. And ability to collaborate with team members. Technologies: ReactJS, NodeJS, Typescript. Microservices development and event driven architecture. Knowledge of design patterns and best practices. Source code management and DevOps practices with Azure DevOps and Git. Knowledge of automated testing tools to collaborate with QAs : Playwright, Postman. Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and testing tools : Jest-Axe, WAVE, NVDA is an asset. Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP) Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus and API Management. The Senior Specialist will lead a team of developers in creating and maintaining business applications while serving as a subject matter expert on platform technologies. They will interface with clients to define system needs, design scalable solutions, and ensure the successful implementation of complex application projects.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 7 years of experience in programming and developing business applications. Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, and leadership competencies is required.
