We’ve got an exciting opportunity – Associate Vice President (AVP), Personal Banking – to join our highly talented team. In this role, you’ll help shape and advance our personal banking strategy through strong leadership, innovative thinking, and a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes for our members. What’s the role? Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Personal Banking, the AVP, Personal Banking is responsible for the overall performance and growth of the division. This includes driving financial results, leading retail banking strategies, and advancing initiatives that strengthen member experience, employee engagement, and operational effectiveness. Working in close partnership across the organization, you will help drive sustainable growth, build strong relationships, and ensure a consistent, high-quality member experience aligned with Coastal Community’s vision and strategic priorities. What you’ll do Lead strategy and operations * Partner with the SVP, Personal Banking to develop and execute divisional strategies, operating plans, and policies aligned with corporate objectives * Oversee annual planning, including budgets, resource allocation, and workforce planning (FTE), to ensure efficient and effective operations * Provide strategic leadership on corporate initiatives, retail projects, and business transformation opportunities * Identify and advance opportunities to improve processes, enhance service delivery, and support sustainable growth * Contribute to organizational committees and support enterprise-wide strategic priorities Drive business growth and performance * Lead and execute sales and service strategies that achieve or exceed financial targets across the Personal Banking division * Strengthen portfolio growth through strong sales management, relationship development, and community engagement * Ensure alignment of retail sales standards and practices across the branch network * Partner cross-divisionally with Commercial, Insurance, and Wealth teams to drive referral opportunities and new member acquisition Provide leadership and build capability * Lead, coach, and develop Branch Management teams to deliver on business objectives and foster strong team performance * Build a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and innovation * Support the development and execution of workforce strategies including performance management, succession planning, and talent development * Guide leaders in translating strategic priorities into actionable business plans at the branch level Strengthen relationships and community presence * Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support business objectives * Represent the organization within the community, enhancing visibility and strengthening key networks and partnerships Ensure sound risk and operational practices * Support the achievement of credit, sales, and operational objectives through effective leadership and oversight * Exercise credit adjudication within assigned lending limits * Provide input into collective bargaining as a retail representative or through advisory contributions as required What you bring Education & designations * Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g., Commerce or Business Administration) or equivalent * Advanced degree is an asset * Advanced understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values Experience & knowledge * Minimum 7 years’ experience in a financial services environment, including managing lending and deposit portfolios * Minimum 7 years’ leadership experience, ideally across retail, commercial, wealth, or insurance environments * Strong knowledge of personal and business lending, deposit products, and branch operations * Solid understanding of the competitive financial services environment and local market dynamics * Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, operational leadership, and people development Leadership capability * Ability to articulate vision, inspire teams, and drive results * Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills * Proven ability to lead change, drive performance, and build high-performing teams * Commitment to delivering exceptional member experiences and adapting to evolving industry trends Who are we? Career Band Range (Annual Salary) $92,700.00 - $137,579.00 The posted salary range is designed to reflect a broad career band, encompassing a variety of roles within our organization and serves as a general guideline.
