Job summary
As an Accountant, Finance, you will play a critical role in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance activities. Working closely with leaders across the organization, you'll provide trusted financial guidance, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen financial operations and accountability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Financial Reporting: * Prepare month, quarter-end and year-end working papers, accounting adjustments, journal entries and reconciliations. * Ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition, including operating cost allocation. * Review month-end/or quarter-end working papers and post journal entries prepared by accounting support staff. * Analysis & Business Support: * Serve as the accounting liaison for designated departments and programs, providing financial expertise, guidance, and support. * Review financial results, forecasts, budgets, and variances, identifying trends, risks and exceptions for leadership review. * Analyze current and past financial data and prepare reports, projections, and recommendations. * Audit & Compliance: * Support the annual audit process through the preparation of working papers, financial statements, and other documentation. * Research updates to accounting standards and financial reporting requirements. Recommending process improvements as appropriate. * Review and process compliance activities, including GST filings, T4 slips, and credit card refunds; and oversee CRA correspondence. * Process & Controls: * Provide training and support to team members on accounting processes, systems, and financial reporting requirements; and act as backup for other accounting team members as required. * Contribute to accounting-related procedures, finance policies, and honorarium & expense packages. * Develop and maintain financial reports, models, job costing methodologies and the Chart of Accounts to support organizational and program requirements. * Investments: * Assist with special projects, process improvements, and system changes. * Support accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, and financial analysis related to CPSA's investment portfolio. * Investigate and resolve discrepancies with investment advisors. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree with specialization in accounting * Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation * 2 years of post-designation CPA related experience Preferred Qualifications and Experience * Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office 365, with strong Excel skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills * Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities * Demonstrated problem solving and research abilities * Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Solver Cloud, PowerBI and CoreIntegrator would be an asset SALARY The annual salary for this position is $97,562 and includes a comprehensive benefit package including pension plan.
