EDUCATION CONSULTANT: SPECIAL EDUCATION (100% REPLACEMENT) Applications are invited for this, temporary replacement position , which is currently available. The successful candidate will be a member of the Complementary Services team and will be under the direct responsibility of the Director of Complementary Services. Join our team and make a difference in the lives of our students! We are currently a team of 5 full-time equivalent dedicated special education consultants. We meet regularly to review literature, hold case discussions, and plan initiatives and professional development sessions for teachers. Our mission is to better support school teams and their students. We actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. In addition to this, we are provided with the following exceptional incentives: Scheduled office hours Summer holidays Winter holiday break March break The possibility of accumulating additional vacation days Statutory holidays Paid professional development opportunities Retirement pension ASSIGNMENT: The successful candidate will work with schools to assist them in the adaptation and development of appropriate pedagogical programs for their students with special needs. Specifically, the task will include: Providing support to teachers in the adaptation of programs for students with physical, social-emotional or learning difficulties; Evaluating student needs and progress using a variety of educational assessment strategies; Supporting the development of individual educational plans (IEP) and transition plans; Training teachers in the use of approaches and strategies, practices and pedagogical materials for students presenting with persistent difficulties; Helping schools to develop special pro jects; Representing the Board on local, regional and provincial committees, as requested; Other related duties, as required. QUALIFICATIONS: The Special Education Consultant will be a qualified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in education. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in special education or in teaching and reading Experience as a Resource Teacher Experience with teaching in elementary, high school and/or adult sectors. This position will be mostly concentrated in High School and the Adult Sector. Fluent in English and French, both in oral and written would be an asset Knowledge and comfort with computer literacy and assistive technology ANNUAL SALARY: In accordance with the Professionals’ Agreement: ($56,670 to $105,432) (35-hour week), according to qualifications and experience.
