Security Officer - Public Safety

Commissionaires BC is proud to provide security services to a Government of Canada Public Safety site located in Burnaby/Vancouver. We are currently looking for security professionals who would be interested in working at a high profile Government of Canada site, and are comfortable and able to go through a Top Secret Clearance process. Successful candidates will need to have an open availability, including weekends and overnight shifts. Ideal candidates would be: * Able to provide superior customer service to both customers and clients * Experienced in following strict protocols and dealing with emergency situations * Be of good character and sound mind, * Honest and trustworthy * Reliable * Capable of obtaining a Top Secret Clearance. * In possession of valid BC Security Licence and OFA 1 certificate or willing to obtain * Able to work shift rotations including mornings, afternoons and graveyards Top secret clearance requirements: * Minimum of 10 years living Canada * Must hold Canadian citizenship * Have no criminal record or association with criminal activities (including family, friends and acquaintances) * The test itself comprises of: * Completion of comprehensive paperwork * Thorough and intense investigation on past activities, associations and your character * Examination of vices, dishonesty, and financial status * Polygraph Test – Must complete and pass testing **Please note – due to the nature of the clearance, processing times can take 10-12 months to complete. Commissionaires would be able to offer temporary employment in the meantime** What’s in it for you: * Opportunity to work for high profile government site * Competitive wages * Potential future career opportunities within Public Safety * Bonus Program * $250 – Once Top Secret Clearance has been obtained Site role and responsibilities: * Liaise with all security personnel regarding specific activities or concerns, maintaining open communication * Monitoring of CCTV cameras, reviewing situations and reporting/advising on-site personnel of appropriate response * Greet visitors and staff members * Ensure confidentiality for staff members and the site * Enforce building security, and maintain a safe environment for all personnel and the public * Manage incoming calls, inquiries, and pass along vital information * Respond to inquiries according to site access protocols * Respond to emergency situations

The Security Officer will monitor CCTV systems, manage site access, and respond to emergency situations while maintaining open communication with security personnel. They are responsible for greeting visitors and staff, enforcing building security, and ensuring the confidentiality of the site.

Candidates must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance, which requires Canadian citizenship and 10 years of residency in Canada. A valid BC Security Licence and OFA 1 certificate are required, along with the ability to work flexible shift rotations.
