Job summary
Role Description This full-time Computational Neuroscientist role at Como Lab is a hybrid position based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves designing and implementing computational models to investigate cognitive and neural processes, integrating data from EEG and other neuroimaging modalities. Responsibilities include planning and conducting experiments, preprocessing and analyzing neural data, and collaborating with experimental neuroscientists and psychologists to refine hypotheses. The Computational Neuroscientist will write clean, reproducible code, document analytical pipelines, and contribute to publications, grant applications, and conference presentations. The role also includes mentoring junior team members, participating in lab meetings, and staying current with advances in computational and cognitive neuroscience. Qualifications Strong foundation in Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience, with demonstrated ability to link brain activity to behavior and cognition. Expertise in Computational Neuroscience, including modeling neural systems, data-driven approaches, and quantitative analysis. Hands-on experience with EEG, including experimental design, signal preprocessing, artifact removal, and feature extraction. Proven research skills, including study design, statistical analysis, and preparation of manuscripts or technical reports. Proficiency in relevant programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, MNE, EEGLAB) and version control (e.g., Git). Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent experience) in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and commitment to reproducible research practices. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and mentor junior colleagues. Experience with machine learning methods, Bayesian modeling, or network analysis applied to neural data is an asset. Familiarity with ethical guidelines and best practices for human participant research and data privacy.
