We Invite Applications For The Temporary Position Of 0.60 FTE Online Learning Modern Languages: Mandarin 10, Intro to Languages 11, Spanish 10 Teacher This assignment will end on June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent. NIDES teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized, online learning courses using diverse instructional technology. NIDES teachers commit to working online and face-to-face with students, colleagues, and parents. Teachers actively research, develop, and maintain advanced online curriculum and support blended instruction in classrooms, learning centers, and through tutorials. They teach students province wide & work on-site at a Comox Valley School. The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate Training, certification and/or direct experience teaching in an online learning (OL) environment Oral, written and cultural fluency (mastery level) in Mandarin and Spanish. Experience, training and education related to the design and instruction of modern languages within an online learning environment at the secondary school level Experience working with the delivery of modern languages through Rosetta Stone and Brightspac Advanced skills in maintaining an online classroom in a learning management system Advanced skills in supporting assessment for learning (AFL) assessment practices and documentation for students, parents, and educators Experience developing and implementing online learning platforms within the modern languages portfolio (Brightspace, Zoom, Teams) to enhance student learning Ability to work with and provide tutorial support for students online and in person Ability to support students with course adaptations and I.E.P.s Background in linguistics preferred Our educational team is committed to engaging learners to develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and social competencies. Requirements

Candidates should have training, certification, or direct experience teaching online, along with mastery-level oral, written, and cultural fluency in Mandarin and Spanish. Relevant experience includes secondary-level online modern language curriculum and instruction, Rosetta Stone and Brightspace, online assessment practices, learning platforms, tutorial support, and supporting course adaptations and IEPs; a background in linguistics is preferred.
