ABOUT THE POSITION Major Tom is looking for a Sommelier to add to their team on a Full-Time permanent basis. Reporting to the General Manager, the Sommelier is responsible for delivering exceptional wine service to the guests, while serving as a leader and resource to the Front of House team. Working closely with the Corporate Sommelier, the role supports the execution and development on the wine program though staff education, inventory organization, service standards, and product knowledge. WHAT WE OFFER * Competitive Hourly Wage * Gratuities * Extended health benefits after 90 days for employees working 28+ hours per week * 25% Company-wide food & beverage discount & access to frequent local business discounts/specials WHAT YOU’LL DO * Providing excellent and consistent wine service to the guests of Major Tom, while being a leader of knowledge and service to our FOH team. * Working closely with the Corporate Sommelier to ensure a proficient and well communicated wine program. * Working with the Bar Team to assist in the overall excellence of the Beverage Program. * Ensuring clear and accurate communication with the Host Team, taking note of guests and any special requirements before service every shift. * Have up to date information on our entire wine list, their location in inventory, and knowledge on our of stock items, and communicate information to the team. * Ensure glass pours are always fresh and in good health, and served with the appropriate service needs. * Ensure fridges are in good condition and at the appropriate temperatures, and are fully stocked with new wines. * Responsible for keeping the wine room clean and organized. * Responsible for updating the bulletin board with notes on new wines in a timely fashion with any required wine updates and new wine list updates. * Responsible for weekly wine training events with FOH team. * Occasional assistance with counting period end wine inventory and weekly wine ordering. * Attending industry wine tasting events, taking notes and offering commentary on what was tasted and learned. WHAT YOU HAVE * WSET * 5+ years experience serving in a venue with established wine programs is preferred. * Previous experience in a Sommelier, wine service, or management position in a restaurant of similar environment. * Strong knowledge of wine, including regions, varietals, and food and wine pairings. * A genuine passion for wine and the hospitality industry. * Ability to confidently guide guests through the wine list, while making suggestions based on their preferences and food choices. * Strong organizational skills. * Leadership and communication skills, to be able to educate the team * Ability to remain composed and professional in a fact-paced environment. * Proserve.

Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in established wine programs and possess a WSET certification. Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and food pairings is essential, along with excellent leadership and organizational skills.
