Reporting to the Director, Student Life & Learning, the Learning Services Coordinator oversees the creation, delivery, and evaluation of academic supports at Concordia University of Edmonton (“CUE”). This includes the Tutoring program, the Writing Centre, academic strategies, the Bounce Back Program, and New Student Orientation. This individual maintains active participation in communities of practice regarding student success and learning strategies, and shares knowledge and resources with the Student Life & Learning team and wider CUE community as needed. The Learning Services Coordinator demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, leadership abilities, and communication skills in order to best collaborate with colleagues and deliver services to students. Responsibilities Student Academic Support Provides drop-in support to students with academic challenges and questions. Participates in the CUE C.A.R.E.S. program by providing academic support to students of concern. Instructs the Bounce Back program and delivers individual support to students in this program. Academic Skills & Student Success Programming Coordinates CUE's Tutoring program, including tutor recruitment and training, functional supervision, and assessments. Coordinates CUE's Writing Centre, including recruitment, training, functional supervision, and assessments. Collaborates with the Student Life and Learning team to deliver academic skills workshops. Plans and implements New Student Orientations, in collaboration with the Director, Student Life & Learning and in consultation with key stakeholders. Program Development & Best Practices Researches best practices in areas of student success, tutoring, writing instruction, universal design for learning, and other relevant topics. Establishes and regularly updates standards of practice for delivery of tutoring, academic strategies, and other academic supports, ensuring services are inclusive, effective, and relevant. Campus Engagement & Team Support Collaborates and communicates frequently with the Campus Life team and others, developing positive internal relationships with staff and faculty. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Master's degree in education or related field is required. With a combination of experience, a Bachelor's degree may be considered. Minimum 3 years experience working with students, preferably those with complex learning needs is required. Minimum 2 years experience teaching at a post-secondary level is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with personal information within privacy legislation and university policies is required. Ability to pass a clear criminal record check is required.
