Convergint is currently recruiting for a 3rd year Electrical Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team in our Calgary location. As the 3rd year Electrical Apprentice or Journeyman, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations that are typically less complex. What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience” Install conduit inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment. Executes all installations under direct supervision adhering to company health and safety policies and procedures. Uses basic troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems. Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Proactively seeks technical guidance from more experienced staff as needed. Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service. Developing technical skills and experience related to electrical installations that make up the Building Automation or Security solutions we offer our clients. What You’ll Need Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) Must be a self-starter and work well with direct supervision. Must arrive at work on time and ready to work based on the needs of the business. Travel to jobsites is required. There may be occasional overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Basic organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy. Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook. Must have the appropriate tools for the job based on the Convergint Technology tool list requirements. Requirements High School diploma or equivalent.
