GENERAL FUNCTION: The Computer Assisted Design (CAD) and Drafting Technologist will be responsible for the generation of AutoCAD® drawings and Inventor® in support of all Engineering, Manufacturing and other areas of the company where the need exists. This will include mechanical and electrical drawings (including schematics, single line diagrams, layouts, details, etc.). This position is part of the drafting team. * The drafting team is expected to maintain the drafting request and deliver all requested drawings when required. * Drawing requests can take the form of minor changes to existing drawings or complete systems of multiple drawings generated from limited inputs. Normally large drawings will require follow up questions and discussions with the requestors to confirm details. * Drafting Technologist can be required to search the internet or contact suppliers for specification sheets to obtain dimensions of components and other details. * All areas of the company use the service provided by the drafting team. Drawings are created for internal use and for external use by end customers. * Knowledge in using client drawing server to download and upload CAD drawings as needed. * Approximately 90% of work will be in 2D AutoCAD®. * Overtime may be required to meet customer expectations. QUALIFICATIONS: * College graduates with an Engineering Technology diploma preferred with at least two years’ experience from graduation. * Required to have excellent working knowledge and experience in the use of AutoCAD® or similar software. * Extensive experience drafting in 2D. * Exposure to 3D modelling is an asset. * Previous experience with relevant mechanical, electrical or construction design experience will be considered a major advantage in this role. * Strong analytical, problem solving and computer skills are required. * Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills. * Exposure working with Project Managers would be beneficial.
