Division: Control Room Technician - Global News Toronto Work Status: Full-Time Location: Barber Greene - Toronto, ON (Onsite) About the Role: We're looking for a Full-Time Control Room Technician to join the team at Global News Toronto. Reporting to the Manager, Broadcast Operations, you will play a key role in the technical execution of live and recorded broadcasts, ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality news and programming. In this role, you'll support a fast-paced control room environment by operating, monitoring, and maintaining advanced broadcast and studio systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, late nights, and weekends. You will contribute by: Assist in the operation of MOSART, the automated control room application. Operation of Maestro and ORAD virtual set control. Operation of Telemetric robotic cameras in virtual and real environments. Technical initialization and facilities check of all robotic cameras, audio boards, studio lighting, teleprompter, closed captioning and other control room and studio equipment. Quality control checks of all programming being played out from server. Remote coordination of live events. Ability to work a variety of shifts including late nights, early mornings and weekends. Other duties as assigned. Skills and experience you bring: Degree or diploma in Broadcast Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution. Minimum 3 years of network control room or related experience. Comprehensive knowledge around any or all the following newsroom management systems including Mosart, ENPS, Open Media, Grass Valley, XPression and ORAD. Strong technical knowledge around switchers, audio and lighting boards, robotic cameras, graphics systems. Self-starter who takes initiative to improve workflows and production quality. Ability to work in a team environment, be a clear communicator and meet deadlines. Ability to calmly handle the demands and pressure of multiple online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment. Excel at multitasking. Dexterity to adapt in a rapidly changing media and technology landscape. A positive, “Make It Happen” attitude.
