PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As a valued member of CPKC's Work Equipment team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of company systems by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and correcting issues, and conducting repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic machinery and equipment. Your expertise will contribute directly to the smooth operation of our equipment and the success of our operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, enjoys working outdoors and occasional travel. This position is headquartered in Sudbury ON. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Conduct safe and efficient mechanical repair and maintenance of roadway equipment Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of machinery, involved in changing ties and rails including machines, ballast regulators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, tie cranes, tie inserters, etc Utilize manual, electric, and hydraulic tools, alongside welders and cutting torches, to perform and verify maintenance tasks and repairs Investigate and diagnose equipment issues, taking swift corrective action to minimize downtime and production disruptions Plan, organize, and coordinate work within a collaborative team setting Maintain and submit accurate equipment maintenance records, timesheets, and documentation POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age Valid driver’s license High school diploma or general equivalency Formal technical education for heavy equipment, commercial transport and/or at least 3 years' experience in heavy duty equipment repairs Registered apprentices in the heavy equipment technician program, may also apply Experience with reading schematics, troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems Proficiency in use of computers, data upkeeping regarding repair workorders and other computer applications Foundational welding experience WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
