The Role As an Analyst, External Funds Operations, you will support the External Portfolio Management (EPM) investment teams by providing operational expertise across transaction management, asset servicing, investment accounting, valuation, and reporting. You will play a key role in supporting hedge funds, co-investments, and managed accounts by ensuring investment activity is accurately processed, monitored, and reported while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement. The Team The Investment Operations team supports the investment lifecycle by delivering accurate, timely, and efficient operational services across CPP Investments' global investment portfolios. The team partners closely with investment professionals and corporate functions to ensure investment activity is executed, monitored, and reported with a strong focus on operational excellence, controls, and continuous improvement. The External Funds Operations team supports External Portfolio Management (EPM) investment strategies across hedge funds, co-investments, and managed account platforms. The team manages transaction processing, asset servicing, investment accounting, valuations, and reporting while partnering with stakeholders across Investment Departments, Finance, Legal, and Risk to support the successful execution and ongoing management of investments. Accountabilities Support investment closings by reviewing documentation, completing system setups, processing transaction entries, and coordinating settlements. Manage the lifecycle of investment transactions by monitoring deal pipelines, processing asset servicing activities, reconciling records, and ensuring investments are accurately reflected. Prepare and review management and incentive fee accruals, capital calls, redemptions, and invoice payments. Prepare or review monthly NAV calculations for external pooled funds and analyse estimate-to-final valuation differences, market value movements, and profit and loss changes. Contribute to financial statements, note disclosures, management reporting, and portfolio analysis by providing accurate data and meaningful insights. Support the processing of complex investments while understanding impacts on trading, portfolio construction, reporting, and performance. Contribute to operational excellence by maintaining policies and procedures, identifying process improvements, and leveraging AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency, controls, and data integrity. What You Bring Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. 1–3 years of relevant experience in investment operations, accounting, finance, or a related discipline. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Collaborative mindset with the flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities in a high-performing team environment. Demonstrated interest in automation, process optimization, continuous improvement, and AI-enabled tools, with the ability to identify practical opportunities to improve operational efficiency. Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, or CBV are considered an asset.
