The Role As Principal Engineer, Risk & Total Fund Management Technology, you will define architectural direction and elevate engineering excellence across critical investment technology platforms and data capabilities. Operating as a senior individual contributor at the Director level, you will influence enterprise-wide technical decisions, strengthen engineering practices, and ensure technology platforms remain scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with CPP Investments' long-term investment objectives. Working across multiple teams, you will help shape how technology enables investment decision-making, risk management, and operational excellence. The Team Accountabilities Define and evolve architectural direction across critical technology platforms and data capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and engineering standards. Provide technical leadership on complex, cross-functional initiatives, making informed trade-offs across scalability, resilience, performance, security, cost, and operational sustainability. Partner with Technology Architecture & Practices and peer Principal Engineers to establish architectural consistency and long-term platform sustainability. Raise engineering standards across the organization by mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical decision-making through sound architectural judgement. Strengthen DevOps maturity, deployment reliability, observability, and secure-by-design engineering practices across technology teams. Advance data product maturity by improving ownership, interoperability, integration, and trusted consumption patterns. Guide the responsible adoption of Generative AI and automation while reducing unnecessary technology proliferation and architectural fragmentation. What You Bring Demonstrated experience leading architecture and engineering strategy across complex enterprise technology environments. Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, cloud technologies, software engineering, and modern engineering practices. Strong understanding of DevOps, platform engineering, security-by-design, observability, and operational resilience. Experience designing and enabling scalable data platforms, data integration, and data product capabilities. Ability to influence senior technical leaders and business stakeholders through sound technical judgement and collaborative leadership. Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and drive engineering excellence across multiple teams. Experience evaluating emerging technologies, including Generative AI, and applying them responsibly within enterprise environments.
