Role Description The Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for leading the kitchen team and ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. This role oversees menu development, daily production, and service, including planning, costing, and execution of dishes that reflect the restaurant’s concept and CRG’s culinary standards. The Head Chef manages ordering, inventory, and relationships with suppliers, ensuring efficient use of ingredients and adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include training, scheduling, and coaching kitchen staff, maintaining a safe and inclusive working environment, and collaborating with front-of-house leadership to deliver an excellent guest experience. The role also involves monitoring kitchen performance, controlling costs, and contributing ideas to seasonal menus, specials, and culinary events. Qualifications Strong culinary expertise, including advanced cooking techniques, menu development, and plating skills. Proven kitchen leadership experience, including team supervision, training, and performance management. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance in a professional kitchen environment. Experience with inventory management, ordering, cost control, and budgeting in a restaurant setting. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining quality and consistency. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both kitchen and front-of-house teams. Formal culinary education or equivalent professional experience in fine dining or upscale casual restaurants. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations. Commitment to mentoring team members and fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safety-focused workplace. Experience with Italian or contemporary cuisine and familiarity with Calgary’s dining scene is an asset.
