Manager, Systems Engineering

Job Description As the the Manager, Systems Engineering, you will support the design, development, integration, and testing of the Canadian Coast Guard’s future fleet of six Program Icebreakers. This role will manage a team of engineers and technical specialists. More specifically you will: Manage a team of engineers and technical specialists. Ensure compliance with and support the development of the Corporate Management System (CMS). Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards, including the rules and regulations of classification societies, IMO, and Transport Canada. Liaise directly with vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Engage with all technical disciplines to ensure effective management of technical changes. Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. Manage relationships with key stakeholders and act as a technical liaison between internal and external stakeholders. Provide performance reports as required by senior management. Monitor and proactively manage overall project risks. Monitor and manage subcontractors and associated risks. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements within the scope of responsibility. Participate in risk reviews and engineering estimates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Naval architecture). Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the field of marine engineering or ship design. Minimum of five (5) years’ leadership experience. Experience working with the rules and regulations of classification societies and flag states. Experience working in a shipyard is considered an asset. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to complete multiple, complex, detail-oriented tasks and projects on time. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite. Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least ten years of experience in marine engineering or ship design, with five years in a leadership role. Proficiency in both English and French is required, along with strong organizational skills.
