Job summary
Job Overview DCM Metal Corp. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Etobicoke, ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates, analyzing project specifications and drawings, and collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to support competitive and precise bids. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position. Duties Prepare comprehensive cost estimates of labour, materials, equipment, and overheads by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements. Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing analysis for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services. Utilize estimating and quantity take-off software, spreadsheets (MS Excel), and AutoCAD to prepare detailed estimates and proposals. Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Solicit, review, and analyze quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive and accurate pricing. Advise on tendering procedures, analyze tenders, and recommend awards. Prepare and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid proposals, including scope of work and cost breakdowns. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors. Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 3 to less than 5 years of construction estimating experience. Proficiency with estimating and quantity take-off software, spreadsheets (MS Excel), and AutoCAD. Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, pricing strategies, and industry standards. Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong analytical skills for cost analysis and risk assessment. Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Fluent English, spoken and written. Compensation: $38.50 to $40.00 per hour (to be negotiated), 30 to 35 hours per week. Health care plan provided.
