Coroner Services is mandated by statute to review all sudden and unexpected deaths in New Brunswick and conduct inquests as may be required in the public interest.What you will doReporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations, major duties include:Conduct death investigations by attending death scenes and coordinating all aspects of death investigation in accordance with the Coroners Act;Build and maintain strong partnerships with regional stakeholders;Work with grieving families;Ensure thorough and quality investigations and reports are produced and that all policies and procedures are followed;Participate in continuous learning activitiesProvide hands-on inquest support and preside at inquestWho you areThe successful applicant will display a high degree of initiative and integrity. They must have excellent organizational skills, priority identification skills and must move readily between tasks in a dynamic environment. Excellent leadership, network building, and research skills are essential as is superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in very emotionally charged situations.Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)Post-Secondary Education in a law enforcement program, typically a one (1) year programSix (6) years of experience in the investigative, medical or legal fieldsSuccessful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.Linguistic RequirementsInventory: Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English only.
