Job summary

The MHT provides direct care under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse. The MHT provides treatment and therapeutic services as directed, observes, evaluates, documents and communicates patients’ behavior, reactions, appearance, progress and declining condition, assists in maintaining patients’ safety within the environment, participates in groups and program activities, assists patients with activities of daily living and responses to emergencies as appropriate. Qualifications High School diploma preferred and additional schooling in psychiatric/psychology related areas a plus. One year experience working with acute or chronic mentally ill clients, preferably in the inpatient hospital setting preferred. Physical strength and agility to assist with an agitated and disruptive patient; apply behavioral restraints in a quick and efficient manner; perform other routine physical functions of the job; and withstand unusual stress factors working closely with others. Requires mental alertness and the ability to think critically and react quickly in critical situations. Must be able to read, write, and speak English
