Role Description This full-time Electrical Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Toronto, ON, with a mix of on-site and work-from-home arrangements. The Electrical Engineer will design and review electrical systems for lifestyle apartments for seniors, retirement living, assisted living, memory care, and long-term care projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing detailed electrical drawings and specifications, performing load calculations, coordinating power distribution and lighting layouts, and supporting power systems design. The role involves collaborating with architects, structural and mechanical engineers, and construction teams, participating in project meetings, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning. The Electrical Engineer will also assist with cost estimates, value engineering, and the evaluation of new technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Qualifications Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to building design projects. Proficiency in Electrical Design, including layout, equipment selection, and preparation of drawings and technical documentation. Experience with Power Distribution systems, including panel schedules, feeders, protective devices, and coordination with utility services. Knowledge of Power Systems analysis, such as load flow, short-circuit considerations, and reliability and safety requirements. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; professional engineering designation (P.Eng) is required. Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, local building regulations). Ability to use relevant design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools) and standard office applications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience in building design or construction projects, particularly in health care or senior living facilities, is considered an advantage.
