Job details
Tax Manager | $110,000–$135,000 | Etobicoke (Hybrid) The easiest way to make a Tax Manager miserable is to give them responsibility for everything and authority over nothing. This role is rather different. You’ll join a CPA firm in Etobicoke where Managers are expected to actually manage clients, files, deadlines and people, while remaining involved in tax planning and the more technical side of the work. The client base includes privately held businesses, business owners, individuals and trusts, so there’s enough variety to stop the role becoming a twelve-month exercise in reviewing the same return. Why consider it: $110,000–$135,000 salary Hybrid working Etobicoke location Corporate, personal and trust tax exposure Tax planning and advisory work Direct client responsibility Close involvement with Partners Opportunity to lead and mentor staff Technical tax research Broad privately held client base Longer-term career progression What you’ll be doing: Review T2 corporate tax returns Review T1 personal and T3 trust returns Prepare complex returns where necessary Manage a portfolio of tax clients Identify tax planning opportunities throughout the year Work with Partners on client planning strategies Research technical Canadian tax matters Resolve more complex tax issues Manage engagement timelines and client expectations Review junior and intermediate staff work Provide technical guidance and coaching Develop less experienced members of the tax team Communicate directly with clients on tax matters Support CRA reviews and other tax-related correspondence Help maintain strong technical and quality standards across the team What they’re looking for: CPA designation 5+ years of Canadian public accounting experience Strong corporate tax background Experience with personal and trust taxation Previous experience reviewing tax returns Tax planning and research experience Strong Canadian income tax knowledge Comfortable managing client relationships independently Experience supervising and mentoring staff Ability to manage competing deadlines during busy periods CPA In-Depth Tax Program would be useful If you’d like to know more about the position, just hit the apply button and I’ll be in touch.
