EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Regular Part-Time Cashiers (Weekday & Weekend) The District of Sparwood has an excellent employment opportunity for two enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to join the Community Services team in the role of Regular Part-Time Cashier. Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Cashier undertakes diverse office, clerical, and cashiering duties in support of recreation programming and services at the Sparwood Leisure Centre. The core job duties include: Providing exemplary customer service and being knowledgeable in facility policies, procedures, programs, and events Completing program registrations and facility bookings for diverse clientele Processing cash and electronic payments for facility use and admissions, including end-of-day deposits and cash reports Preparing and assisting with the development of advertising and promotional materials Job requirements: Minimum Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent) Additional education, courses or training in business/office administration, recreation, communications or a related field is a strong asset Strong written and oral communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as word, excel, outlook, etc. Working knowledge of online webpage and design programs, such as Canva are an asset Class 5 Driver’s License Exceptional customer service skills to deal with the public in person and by phone in a courteous and effective manner Ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team Hours of work: These are regular, part-time positions working 20 or more hours per week. We are looking for both weekend (Fri-Sun, 7 hours/day) and weekday (Mon-Thurs, 6.5 hours/day) coverage. Salary: These positions are unionized roles under CUPE local 2698. The 2026 hourly wage rate is $32.20/hour (plus an additional $2.00/per hour in lieu of benefits and premiums) pursuant to the current Collective Agreement and Employment Standards Act. Apply Now! They complete program registrations and facility bookings, receive cash payments for facility use and admissions, processes deposits and cash reports, prepare and assists with the development of advertising and promotional materials. The Cashier provides exemplary customer service and is well versed in facility policies, procedures, programs, and events. Competencies Accountability Communication Critical thinking Integrity Organization Teamwork and collaboration Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs receptionist duties including answering and responding to telephone, and/or in-person enquiries, complaints Processes facility bookings and/or cancellations Registers participants into programs Receives admissions/user payments Processes daily deposits, cash reports, and reconciliations Maintains and updates RecDesk and electronic sign Prepares correspondence, maintains spreadsheets and databases Maintains accurate records and prepares reports Develops, edits, proofreads, and maintains promotional materials Prepares or assists in the preparation of program files and contracts Prepares and assists with the set-up of programs, and facilities using recreation software Performs such back-up functions within the recreation center office as assigned All persons employed by the District of Sparwood will be required to assist the municipality in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties Performs other duties as Required Skills and Abilities / Work Experience Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses and/or experience Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe and Canva Exemplary customer service skills Ability to multitask and work independently Demonstrable excellent business writing skills and ability Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to deal with the public in person and by telephone in a courteous and effective manner Ability to perform general accounting functions Knowledgeable in digital and traditional filing systems Proficient in the use and operation of computer-based programs Other Qualifications & Experience Proficient in Microsoft Office Accounting / Communications certificate Working knowledge of RecDesk software Working knowledge of web page editing programs Work Conditions These are regular, part-time positions working 20 or more hours per week. We are looking for both weekend (Fri-Sun, 7 hours/day) and weekday (Mon-Thurs, 6.5 hours/day) coverage. Operation of desktop computer and peripherals Extended periods of sitting Interaction with employees, management, members of Council, and the public at large Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions

Requirements
