The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Technician, Building. This job is full-time permanent. Do you like keeping a building running smoothly and making sure people feel comfortable in it? At Domtar’s head office in downtown Montreal, you will be the go-to person for the maintenance of Maison Domtar, Jardin Domtar and CPE Origami. This is a permanent day position, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting with a training period alongside the current technician before his retirement. The Building Services group’s mission is to maintain the integrity of the building, facilities and mechanical systems at Maison Domtar, Jardin Domtar and CPE Origami, in order to provide employees with a functional and safe work environment. You will report to the Building Services Supervisor. You will be the only person in this role, but never on your own: you will be part of a team of five people who support each other every day. Your responsibilities * Doing rounds of the building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, lighting, elevators) and identifying what needs to be corrected; * Adjusting temperature and comfort on each floor using the building management software; * Welcoming and supervising specialized contractors (plumbers, electricians, etc.) and following the preventive maintenance schedule; * Carrying out minor day-to-day repairs and responding to employee requests, including at CPE Origami; * Knowing the fire alarm panel and responding during emergencies; * Planning purchases and ordering lighting materials and sanitary supplies; * Keeping entrances and common areas safe on a daily basis, for example by clearing the main entrance between two visits from the snow removal contractor; * Remaining reachable outside working hours for major emergencies. These are rare, and call-ins are paid as overtime or taken as time off. What you need * A Diploma of Vocational Studies in General Building Maintenance or equivalent technical training; * At least three (3) years of experience in building maintenance or building mechanics; * A cool head and good reflexes when facing a breakdown or an emergency; * Initiative: you spot problems before they happen; * Thoroughness and good manual dexterity; * A taste for service and for working with employees; * Proficiency in spoken and written French. Assets * Training in building mechanics; * Experience with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; * Knowledge of municipal and fire regulations in Quebec; * Functional English; * A forklift operator’s licence (training provided if needed).
