What It Takes Student leaders working with Admissions and Recruitment will support prospective international students by answering their questions, sharing their student experience, and assisting with recruitment initiatives to help prospective students feel informed, supported, and confident as they explore Douglas College. Student leaders working with International Student Services will support new and current international students by answering their questions and implementing social activities and events to help international students feel connected and welcomed to Douglas College and Canada. Responsibilities Attend onboarding session. Attend regular team meetings with program coordinators and other student assistants. Help students develop social connections with other Douglas students. Schedule and facilitate meetings, workshops, and/or social opportunities. Assist with creation of promotional materials for the specific program. Assist with creation of content for various social media channels. Assist with various administrative duties. Other duties as required. Program Specific Responsibilities International Student Services Mentorship Program Assist in providing support to student mentors to help orient our new students (SAs cannot supervise other SAs. Only a BCGEU Supervisor or an Administrator can supervise SAs) Assist with the planning, implementation, and promotion of event for mentees and volunteer mentors. Initiating and maintaining contact with new students. Participating in program training and promotional workshops. Other Duties Assist in creating social media and video content for the Mentorship Program and Douglas College International, including developing promotional plans and schedules. Assisting with on-campus and off-campus events for international students (may include new student orientation). Assists the International Student Life Coordinator handling the reception area – answering student questions and referring to campus services if applicable. Admissions & Recruitment Student Engagement: Engage with prospective international students through social media and the Unibuddy platform by answering questions, helping them navigate the Douglas College website, and providing general admission-related information about programs, the application process, admissions requirements, scholarships, and student life. Support the administration and promotion of the Unibuddy platform by coordinating Student Ambassador activities, creating digital content, and enhancing the prospective student experience. Administrative Support Assist Admissions Coordinators with various administrative duties, including database entry, filing, compiling reports, organizing promotional materials and merchandise inventory, and other projects as needed. Events Assists with the delivery of events for Student Ambassadors. Support Recruitment & Admissions Coordinators in preparing for and delivering online and in-person recruitment activities, including information sessions, campus tours, webinars, student fairs, and high school visits. To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need To maintain a GPA of 2.3 or above To maintain positive conversations/interactions with prospective and new students through sharing your experiences, stories about your journey in Canada/ Douglas College etc. Strong leadership skills A positive, outgoing attitude Keen interest in working in an international setting Keen interest in facilitating intercultural learning and discovery Experience with social norms and values of more than one culture is an asset To be able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality Ability to set and maintain boundaries To be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision Experience in administrative work Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment Experience with video conferencing services (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype) is an asset Experience using graphic design programs such as Canva and video editing is an asset Experience using pages, groups, messaging, and events on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram To be comfortable being on social media channels promoting initiatives Domestic students must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to work as a Student Assistant/Student Research Assistant: The domestic student must be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term; OR The domestic student must have been enrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work term and has indicated an intention to enroll at the college in the term immediately following the work term; OR The domestic student must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. throughout the work term; OR The domestic student must have been enrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. in the term immediately preceding the work term and has indicated an intention to enroll at the institution in the term immediately following the work term International students must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to work as a Student Assistant/Student Research Assistant: The international student is enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, throughout the academic year; OR The international student, who is not a Douglas College student, but is an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C., has a valid Study Permit that has the notation – “May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (F), (V) or (W). Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria.” Proof of enrollment in full-time studies from the other post-secondary institution is required. An original copy of a Social Insurance Number ( SIN ) and an original Study Permit are required by law before commencing work at Douglas College. Qualified Douglas College students meeting the above criteria will be given first preference over students of other qualifying institutions. Additional Information The position is located at the New Westminster and Coquitlam Campus. Hours of work: up to a maximum of 20 hours/week. The work terms for this position are: Fall Semester 2026 – September 8, 2026 – December 19, 2026 Winter Semester 2027 – January 4, 2027 – April 23, 2027 Summer Semester 2027 – May 10, 2027 – August 21, 2027
