About You and this Role Dow is seeking an Emergency Response Technician to join our Emergency Services and Security (ES&S) team in Fort Saskatchewan. In this role, you will share responsibility for the implementation of the ES&S management system in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Additionally, you will provide hands-on emergency response services and security activities for the Fort Saskatchewan site, including but not limited to firefighting, rope rescue, hazardous materials response, and medical response. Responsibilities Respond to site emergencies and security incidents, operating emergency response equipment, and executing tactical response plans. Support the development and continuous improvement of documented equipment maintenance, training, and operational check requirements, ensuring alignment with global and local templates. Ensure all training, maintenance, and operational check requirements meet global/local standards and that emergency preparedness activities are value-added, maintaining readiness of all emergency systems and equipment. Contribute to the development and application of operating discipline to effectively execute and document emergency preparedness activities. Complete emergency preparedness tasks in accordance with site ES&S Preparedness Plan and Operating Discipline, including annual review of task lists to confirm ongoing value and relevance. Identify and communicate discrepancies within the ES&S Preparedness Plan to the appropriate process step for resolution. Collaborate with security personnel to develop secure asset plans and establish operating discipline for executing related tasks. Act as an informal mentor and resource to less experienced team members, supporting their development and capability building. Qualifications A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. NFPA 1001 Level 1 & Level 2 Certification Registered with Alberta College of Paramedics as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (i.e. Emergency Response or Brigade experience, etc.) Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment. Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage. A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support. Preferred Qualifications NFPA 1006 Rope Resue Technician Certification NFPA 1006 Confined Space Technician Certification NFPA 470 Hazmat Operations/Technician Certification NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver / Operator ICS 200 Class 3/4 Driver's License with “Q” endorsement Prior experience with Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) or equivalent Registered with Alberta College of Paramedics as an PCP/ACP Prior experience or knowledge of Emergency Medical Services Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety relating to Emergency Response Skills Emergency Response: Effectively responds to fires, medical incidents, hazardous materials events, rescues, and other emergencies while executing tactical response plans safely and efficiently. Operational Readiness: Maintains emergency systems, equipment, training, and preparedness activities to ensure continuous response capability and compliance with established standards. Safety Compliance: Applies emergency response procedures, operating discipline, and health and safety requirements to protect people, assets, and the environment. Interpersonal Communication: Communicates clearly with emergency responders, security personnel, site stakeholders, and team members to coordinate response activities and resolve issues. Planning & Organization: Prioritizes and executes training, maintenance, inspections, operational checks, and preparedness tasks to support site emergency readiness.
