Title: Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs - 100089 Position Number: 100089 Unit/Department: Office of the Provost Salary: Stipend & Course Release Job Summary: The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs is responsible for managing, operationalizing and supporting faculty-related policies, procedures, and functions. This includes overseeing the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance, the Center for Teaching and Learning, new faculty hiring and orientation, new chair training, facilitating Academic Chair and Associate Dean meetings, convening a Graduate Council, and serving as the primary liaison between academic departments, the Provost’s Office and Global Affairs to support transnational programs and study abroad, as well as other duties as assigned. This position will report directly to the Provost and will come with no required teaching responsibilities and an additional stipend. The initial term is for three years and can be renewed. Minimum Qualifications: • Associate Professor or Full Professor at Drake University • Administrative experience at Drake University (program coordinator, committee chair, director, department chair, associate dean, etc.) • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete work independently and on a group/committee • Demonstrated record of published research • Stated commitment to Drake University mission and core values • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with appropriate care • Experience managing a budget Preferred Qualifications: • Tenured faculty member at Drake University • Experience successfully leading and working on teams • Strong interpersonal communication skills • Strong written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Capacity to analyze complex data and problems Job Duties: * Oversee Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance * Supervise and ensure delivery of programming through the Center for Teaching and Learning * Support faculty development and faculty awards efforts/programming * Convene Academic Chairs/Associate Dean meetings * Serve as primary point of contact for faculty, deans, and departments with transnational program implementation and management * Assist in hiring of global faculty * Support visa efforts for faculty * Engage in strategic planning for program growth * Support Drake-deployed faculty * Provide other academic support to departments, colleges, faculty and Global Affairs as needed * Create and convene Graduate Council * Oversee the University Honors Program and its director * Receive and review sabbatical reports * Serve ex-officio on: * University Curriculum Committee (UCC) * Admission, Retention, and Financial Aid Committee (ARFAC) * Assessment Committee * Assist with development and implementation of academic policies * Manage the Faculty and Chair Handbook in collaboration with other relevant groups * Coordinate First-Year Seminar Program * Engage on curricular issues with faculty * Other duties as assigned Special Instructions to Applicants: Applications due: September 18, 2026 Required Materials: Cover Letter, CV, list of two Drake-affiliated references Review of Applications Begins: Applications due: September 18, 2026
