Location: Vancouver, BC Employment Type: 3-month contract to start Reports to: VFX Supervisor Start Date: As soon as possible, ideally within the next month Dream Theory is an AI-assisted visual effects studio working across commercial, film, and television projects. We combine traditional VFX techniques with generative technology to deliver high-quality work through practical, evolving production workflows. We’re looking for a Generative FX (GenFX) Artist who is creatively curious, technically resourceful, and excited to explore new ways of making images and bringing ideas to life. This role is ideal for someone who understands visual storytelling and can use generative AI tools alongside traditional VFX workflows to deliver polished, production-ready results. What We’re Looking For Hands-on experience with generative AI tools, particularly Beeble, Higgsfield, Runway, and ElevenLabs. Strong visual storytelling skills and an understanding of composition, lighting, continuity, and image quality. Ability to develop effective prompts, iterate on creative direction, and produce polished, production-ready assets. A proactive, adaptable mindset and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced startup environment. A portfolio or reel showcasing generative AI, VFX, or related creative work. What You’ll Be Doing Generate and refine AI-driven images, video, audio, environments, and visual effects. Collaborate with VFX Supervisors, Producers, and artists to bring creative briefs to life. Integrate AI-generated elements into traditional VFX workflows and refine them for final delivery. Iterate on shots based on feedback while maintaining visual consistency and quality. Explore new tools and develop efficient workflows that combine generative AI with traditional VFX techniques. Nice to Have Experience with After Effects, Nuke, or DaVinci Resolve. Familiarity with Blender or Maya for 3D workflows a major asset. Experience with ftrack or other production tracking systems. Knowledge of compositing, rotoscoping, tracking, color grading, and other traditional VFX techniques. Interest in workflow automation and emerging creative technologies. We’re a boutique studio, so versatility is one of our biggest strengths. Our artists collaborate closely, contribute across disciplines, and help shape how AI-assisted visual effects are used in professional production. Dream Theory operates as a hybrid remote/in-studio workplace. This position is based in Toronto and requires regular access to our downtown studio.
