Working closely with Solutions Design, Operations, Application & Integration, Project Management and clients, the role develops engineering solutions that support safe, efficient and scalable warehouse operations. Responsibilities include operational requirements & design, warehouse layouts, facility planning, storage media selection, material flow, slotting strategies, labour planning, equipment planning and operational readiness activities. The Industrial Engineer supports implementation projects from business award through User Acceptance Testing (UAT), working with cross-functional teams to develop engineering deliverables, validate operational readiness and support successful project execution. The role helps ensure operational requirements, project timelines and customer expectations are achieved throughout the project lifecycle. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Design & Project Engineering Participate in DSV Quality Planning (DQP) sessions to gather customer requirements and develop engineering deliverables. Develop warehouse layouts, process flows, material flow and slotting strategies that support safe and efficient operations. Support greenfield, brownfield and facility expansion projects through operational design and engineering planning. Develop storage solutions, including specialized storage media for hazardous materials and customer-specific inventory requirements. Execute engineering activities in accordance with the DSV Contract Logistics Project Approach (CLPA), supporting project milestones and implementation quality. Engineering Analytics & Operational Readiness Analyze operational data, throughput, labour performance and warehouse capacity to support engineering decisions. Develop labour models, KPI reporting and engineering analyses using forecasted volumes and productivity assumptions. Identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvements that increase throughput and operational efficiency. Develop facility readiness plans supporting warehouse start-up, expansion and operational changes. Prepare equipment specifications, procurement lists and end-user equipment requirements while coordinating facility upfit activities with Operations, Procurement and vendors. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Develop and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, schedules and operational test scenarios. Work with Operations, Application & Integration and Project Management to execute UAT activities. Track testing progress, document issues and support issue resolution. Validate operational readiness prior to go-live and participate in implementation readiness reviews. Support go-live, stabilization activities and capture lessons learned for future projects. Warehouse Automation Support deployment of warehouse automation technologies including WCS, WES, AutoStore, conveyors, ASRS and related material handling systems. Participate in equipment validation, commissioning and operational startup activities. Coordinate automation readiness with Operations, Applications & Integration and project teams. Validate operational performance following implementation and identify improvement opportunities. Support continuous improvement of automation processes and engineering standards. Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Review operational performance following project completion and recommend process improvements. Support labour planning, workflow optimization and warehouse productivity initiatives. Maintain engineering documentation, standards and project templates. Work collaboratively with Solutions Design, Operations, Application & Integration and Project Management throughout the project lifecycle. Build effective relationships with customers, vendors and internal stakeholders while promoting standardized engineering practices. SKILLS & ABILITIES Education Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (or combination of education and relevant experience may be considered). Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset. Experience 3–6 years of engineering experience supporting warehouse operations, customer projects or supply chain solutions. Experience supporting warehouse start-ups, facility expansions, operational improvements or customer implementations. Experience with warehouse control systems, warehouse execution systems or warehouse automation technologies. Familiarity with SQL, Power BI or similar reporting tools is considered an asset. Experience supporting customer projects within a contract logistics environment. Technical Skills Warehouse layout and operational design Material flow analysis and slotting strategy Storage media design and warehouse capacity planning Hazardous materials storage planning Labour planning and productivity analysis Throughput and capacity analysis Data analysis and KPI reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio AutoCAD or equivalent layout software Warehouse management and supporting operational applications Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies SUCCESS MEASURES Success in this role will be measured by: Engineering deliverables are completed on schedule and support project milestones. Facility readiness activities are completed in support of implementation timelines. User Acceptance Testing is completed successfully and supports operational readiness. Customer projects transition into operations with minimal disruption. Throughput, productivity and operational performance meet agreed project objectives. Engineering recommendations are supported by operational data and measurable business outcomes. Engineering standards and documentation are consistently applied across customer projects. Positive working relationships are maintained with customers, Operations and project teams. Language Skills English (reading, writing, verbal), Spanish a plus. Interpersonal communication and language skills (e.g., listening to others, speaking to others, reading, writing). Communication (facilitation skills and very mature communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels in the organization).
