Location: CAN - Winnipeg, Taylor Avenue Job Posting Title: Supervisor, Airfreight Time Type: Full Time This posting is for an existing vacancy and not intended to create a talent pipeline The function of the Supervisor, Airfreight is to oversee the processing of all airfreight shipments, the movement and monitoring while in route. Supervise the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate as well as government regulations. This role will support the branch’s air export operation by ensuring outstanding and consistent customer service while at the same time supporting and creating opportunities to reduce operational cost and maximize profitability. This role has direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. The incumbent is key liaison with Customers and internal operations staff to ensure client satisfaction. Actively involved in the training and development of operations team including performance evaluations. Mentor and train new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time. Will be responsible to supervise staff with the intention of anticipated growth and development. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with Management to continually improve department operations with focus on productivity• Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements• Manage key accounts and client base with high level of customer service, operational excellence, and proactive conduct including client visits to maintain strong relationship• Supervise and direct the desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department(s)• Manage department and staff in managers absence • Support with recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training of employees • Responsible for overall team performance including staff development, recognition through daily desk level oversight, guidance and coaching• Will assign and manage workflow • Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility• Support sales initiatives through collaboration and participation in joint sales calls as required• Work with sales to transition business from sales to operations including the creation of SOP’s and communication with overseas offices • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines• Manages defined teams performance and development priorities Quality, Health & Safety: • Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification• Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.• Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment • Prior experience in a supervisory role, an asset• CIFFA certificate/FIATA Diploma, an asset• Dangerous Goods certification, an asset• ACR designated status, an asset Skills and Competencies • Proven ability as a self-starter, with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Above average customer service skills• Interpersonal skills that build respected professional relationships internally & externally• Ability to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills• Demonstrate good leadership and management skills • Ability to build high performing, diverse workforce (recruit, develop, coach, performance management)• Excellent organizational and time management skills• Ability to manage tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills• Attention to detail and punctuality• Extensive knowledge of operations management• Be authentic, approachable, open and honest• Act as a role model for DSV values and adhere to the Code of Conduct Language and Computer Skills • Proficient with both English and French language• Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite• CargoWise experience, an asset Physical Demands • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer• Occasional travel may be required• Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
