Purpose and Scope of Position: Dumas seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to support procurement activities across the organization. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, parts, supplies and equipment in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, finance, project teams and suppliers to ensure purchasing requirements are fulfilled accurately, efficiently and cost-effectively. This role is ideally suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates sound judgment and can build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers. Qualifications and Experience: Two-year college diploma in Business or an equivalent combination of education and training. PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) courses would be considered an asset. Minimum of three years of experience in a Buyer position. Knowledge of mine materials, equipment and maintenance parts. Working knowledge of accounting principles, inventory management, and budgetary practices. Advanced knowledge of Sage, Guide and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work evenings and weekends when required. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Procurement and Purchasing Demonstrate the core values, vision and Code of Conduct of Dumas Contracting Ltd. Be responsible for all procurement and purchasing activities for assigned projects. Analyze purchasing requirements to obtain favorable pricing, delivery times and terms for regular purchases and blanket orders. Coordinate procurement activities and obtain competitive quotations for direct-charge items and materials. Coordinate requests for quotations related to inventory contracts. Select products for purchase by testing, observing or examining items. Estimate values based on knowledge of current market pricing. Determine the appropriate procurement method, including direct purchase or competitive bid. Prepare purchase orders and bid requests. Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within established budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Review orders to determine the product types and quantities required to meet operational demand. Contracts and Vendor Management Prepare supply and service contract documents for review by the Supply Chain Manager. Support departments in preparing estimates by contacting vendors to obtain budgetary pricing for equipment and materials. Work with inspection or Quality Assurance/Quality Control personnel, users, vendors and other stakeholders to address defective or unacceptable goods or services, determine the source of the issue and implement corrective action. Records, Inventory and Reporting Maintain accurate manual and computerized procurement records, including purchased items and services, costs, delivery information, product quality and performance, and inventory levels. Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories, reporting information to the company or government agencies as required. Prepare various reports for the Supply Chain Manager. Operational Support Provide coverage during absences of the Senior Purchasing Agent and Warehouse Coordinators. Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
