The maintenance and storekeeper is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on building infrastructure, grounds, and medical equipment while ensuring resident safety. Additionally, the role manages inventory levels, receives supplies, and maintains the organization and security of the storage areas.

Resident SAFETY It is every employee’s responsibility to ensure that Dundas Manor’s goal of Resident safety continues to be the centerpiece of our quality and risk management program and that every Resident is treated within a safe environment. To ensure compliance with this goal, each employee must: * Find, report and prevent incidents/near misses or adverse effects * Communicate/report areas of concern immediately to your manager * Complete a Near Miss Form or Incident Report to communicate or report incidents or near misses PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Observes a regular preventative maintenance program related to: * The Physical buildings: * Performs room readiness for new admissions into the home. * Ceiling/wall patching and painting * Minor flooring and mop-board repairs * Clean and paint of all exterior and interior doors and windows * Minor repairs to the roof, windows, doors and the rest of the building * Maintain all doors and related hardware to ensure proper functioning * Assist outside contractors and trades people as required * The Dundas Manor grounds: * Pick up debris and pull weeds * Cut the grass, trim hedges and prune trees * Keep benches and tables in proper repair * Seasonal snow and ice removal and salt entranceways, as required * The physical equipment within the building: * Resident equipment and general furniture repairs * Medical and support equipment * Carpentry and incidental renovations * Sinks, toilets and all incidental plumbing fixtures and drain lines STOREKEEPING Maintains Stock levels, and ensures departments receive their stock items as required. * Ensures stock product is placed in proper location in stockroom * Rotates stock on shelves * Issues supplies to departments as required * Delivers any non-inventory items to departments * Maintains neatness, safety and security of Shipping and Receiving and Main Stores. * Other Related duties OTHER DUTIES * Set up furniture for Dundas Manor meetings, and resident events * Emergency local purchases * Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work done through the Maintenane Care program * Advise the supervisor of jobs arising which require the services of outside professionals * Perform duties as described in the homes fire manual * Perform duties as described in the homes disaster manual * Wear necessary safety equipment and follow specified safety procedures while performing duties * Other duties as assigned * Required to be on-call. QUALIFICATIONS * Recognized Building Maintenance Certificate and/or recognized building trade licence i.e. Carpenter * Valid Driver’s licence with no infractions that would affect Dundas Manors insurance rates (determined by the homes insurance carrier) * Working knowledge of the application and purpose of preventative maintenance systems an asset * Ability to work under minimum supervision * Knowledge of basic electrical, painting, masonry, plumbing, carpentry. * Computer knowledge an asset * Ability to handle the demands of physical labour as required to complete duties and responsibilities * Must be willing to work in a co-operative manner with other staff and contractors, lending assistance, guidance and expertise
