Financial Analyst Work Location: 6080 Young Street, Halifax, NS (On-site, 5 days per week) Department: Finance & Corporate Services Reports To: Accounting Manager Employment Status: Full time, 40 hours per week At Eastlink, Financial Analysts are driven by curiosity, accuracy, and the opportunity to help the business make informed decisions. By analyzing financial results, identifying trends, and providing meaningful insights, they play an important role in supporting operational performance and business success. In this role, you'll support a variety of operating departments by providing financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis. Working closely with Accounting and business partners, you'll help ensure financial information is accurate, actionable, and supports effective decision-making. What You’ll Be Doing As a Financial Analyst, you'll help provide the financial insights that support planning and performance across the organization. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and commentary on departmental operating expenses. Supporting the development of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range financial projections. Partnering with business leaders to review financial results and forecast assumptions. Preparing expense allocations, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. Analyzing financial performance, investigating variances, and identifying trends and opportunities. Providing reporting and ad hoc analysis to support business and operational decisions. Contributing to process improvements that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting. You’ll Also Bring A Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus in Accounting. Three to five years of experience in an accounting or financial analysis role. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong spreadsheet skills. Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and account reconciliations. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Enrollment in a professional accounting designation program is considered an asset. Requirements
