Position Details What You Will Do The Senior Underwriter, Commercial Lines, underwrites and prices new business applications, endorsements and renewals on commercial lines policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio. Underwrite and price new business applications, endorsements and renewals of complex nature on Commercial Lines policies within set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio. Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with brokers by providing exceptional customer service Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquires Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports Assist in monthly business activity reporting Willingness to travel as some travel is required (20%) Who You Are A minimum of 6 to 10 years experience in commercial lines underwriting Post-secondary education in a related field and/or a CIP designation is required. Working towards FCIP or CRM designation is an asset. Extensive knowledge and experience with product development and developing underwriting guidelines Strong product knowledge and thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings with the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills Excellent communication skills both oral and written; French would be an asset Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment Able to effectively set priorities to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point) Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish professional relationships Bilingual French & English written and spoken What's In It For You Competitive total compensation and benefits package Annual shared success program based on performance Annual merit increases based on performance Registered Retirement Savings Plan with a matching contribution component Complimentary CAA Membership Please note that we may use AI tools to help us through the recruitment process. Requirements
Requires 6 to 10 years of commercial lines underwriting experience and post-secondary education in a related field and/or a CIP designation; working toward an FCIP or CRM designation is an asset. Candidates should have strong product and policy wording knowledge, analytical and communication skills, customer service ability, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to prioritize and collaborate; French-English bilingualism is required in the qualifications.
