Overview: As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, the primary function of the Mental Health and Addiction Support Worker (MHASW) is to ensure that EHN Canada operates in accordance with the goals and objectives of the treatment program during times when counseling and administrative staff are unavailable. This role is crucial for providing support, maintaining program integrity, and fostering a safe environment for clients on their recovery journey. This role is a non-regulated role and therefore is not able to perform psychotherapy with clients. The MHASW provide support, encouragement and facilitate some psychoeducational sessions. Please note that this is a casual position and may require flexibility to work different shift schedules. Duties & Responsibilities: * Instruct patients in essential life skills such as bed-making and cleaning to promote independence. * Lead newcomers’ groups and facilitate therapeutic and community meetings. * Monitor patient attendance in structured activities and provide support as needed. * Assist patients who may struggle to remain engaged in activities including therapeutically challenging clients about maladaptive behaviours. * Provide transportation for patients as required via taxi. * Supervise patient activities in the absence of counseling staff, ensuring compliance with facility procedures. * Ensure the security of both patients and the facility after daily activities conclude. * Be available to support patients experiencing emotional difficulties. * Immediately notify on-call leadership in the event of emergencies. * Record significant occurrences and general observations in patient health record or incident reporting system * Engage in case consultations and treatment coordination with the multi-disciplinary team. * Provide first aid when trained, until medical staff arrive. * Support with communications as directed. * Conduct regular rounds to monitor patient well-being and report any concerns. * Ensure all offices and group rooms are secured after business hours. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with completing demands Employee Benefits and Perks: * Comprehensive benefits package including a yearly allowance of $2,000 for mental health and addiction services, plus $600 for various paramedical services (e.g., massage, physiotherapy) * 24/7 Employee Assistance Program through GreenShield Health * Competitive paid time off, with an extra paid day off for your birthday, offered to eligible employees * Float Days and Recognized Statutory Holidays, providing additional flexibility and time off for eligible employees * Access to in-house fitness facilities or discounted gym memberships * Exclusive discounts through Perkopolis on entertainment, insurance, and more * Opportunities for personal and professional growth through our Education Support Assistance program * Supportive relocation opportunities due to our nationwide presence * Defined Benefit pension plan with up to a 4% employer contribution * Maternity and parental leave top-up * Discounts available at Kids & Co.
