Audit defense and management - Ability to manage and influence internal & external stakeholders (Federal and Provincial tax authorities and outside advisors, including economic advisors).2. Review, analyze and interpret data and make planning and compliance recommendations that are consistent with federal, provincial and international tax regulations and align with the Company’s business operations.3. Transfer Pricing subject matter knowledge as it pertains to both Canadian and International tax areas.4. ASC 740 US GAAP accounting for income taxes experience/proficiency.5. Ability to independently source data for tax filings, tax provisions and fulfill tax audit requests. SAP and Microsoft Excel proficiency a must. Income Tax Responsibilities include:1. Manage Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax audits: coordinate tax inspector relationship, strategically prepare tax audit inquiry responses (working with NY Corporate Tax team and, where necessary, outside advisors), calculate/review tax position options and assist with negotiating settlements.2. Assist with Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax planning activities and restructurings as required, including managing engagement with external tax advisors when applicable.3. M&A tax integration and support.4. Plan and manage the Canadian Federal (including non-resident withholding tax) and Provincial income tax compliance process including review and follow-up as required with external tax advisors to ensure efficient and timely preparation of complete and accurate Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax return filings (T2, T106, 1134b, NR4).5. Plan and manage the Quarterly and Year-End tax provisions as well as the prior year “Return to Provision” true-up calculations.6. Prepare and coordinate Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax payments.7. Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) and the Company’s internal tax controls requirements related to all of the above responsibilities. Sales Tax Responsibilities include:1. Manage Canadian Federal and Provincial sales tax audits: coordinate tax inspector relationship, strategically prepare tax audit inquiry responses (working with NY Corporate Tax team and, where necessary, outside advisors), calculate/review tax position options and assist with negotiating settlements. 2. Provide sales tax guidance to various internal groups as required, including enlisting external tax advisors when applicable.3. Vertex – updating Canada Federal/Provincial specific rules, creating new locations for free standing stores and pop-up events.4. Manage the Canadian Federal and Provincial monthly sales tax compliance process, including review and follow-up as required with external tax advisors to ensure efficient and timely preparation of complete and accurate Canadian Federal and Provincial sales tax return filings.5. Prepare Canadian Federal and Provincial sales tax payments.6. Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) and the Company’s internal tax controls requirements related to all of the above responsibilities. Responsibilities Transfer Pricing Responsibilities include:1. Support and monitor the execution of transfer pricing policies/recommendations to ensure that the domestic, manufacturing and licensor businesses are receiving an appropriate arm’s length return relative to their functions/activities, assets and risks.2. Review and ensure appropriate documentation (audit defense files, including the segmented P&L) are maintained for intercompany transactions. 3. Monitor the level of global support costs incurred in Canada, working with the Executive Director of Transfer Pricing to understand the current global licensing arrangements and ensure that the global support costs by brand operating and services legal entities are supported with an annual audit defense file. 4. Monitor transfer pricing changes in legislation (including OECD BEPS Pillar 2) to be at the forefront of a rapidly changing tax environment and review and support in the execution of Canadian transfer pricing related adjustments primarily relating to Canadian Federal and Provincial income tax requirements including ensuring compliance with related Corporate Tax internal controls. 5. Develop and maintain key strategic relationships within the Company (including Brand and non-Brand personnel) to facilitate a deep understanding of the Company’s business operating model that will allow for the efficient execution of job responsibilities. Ancillary responsibilities:1. Requesting tax residency certificates from CRA for affiliates paying royalties to Canada.2. Preparation of intercompany matrix for US “Country-by-Country” reporting.3. Account reconciliations for all income, sales and withholding tax accounts.4. Coordinate property tax payments.5. Manage and assist with Statistics Canada surveys.6. Trade compliance support, as required.7. Records retention – support team with review of document types and destruction dates.8. Purchase orders for tax advisory and regulatory services as well as managing invoices issued against those purchase orders.Pay Range:Anticipated Base Salary Range $96,400.00 to $144,600.00 (Depending on qualifications, skills, experience and/or budget), based on a 40 hour work week (range to be scaled accordingly).
