Operations Lead / Senior Recreational Gymnastics Coach Elite Gymnastics Academy – Oakville, Ontario Part-Time, with opportunity to grow Approximately 20–30 hours per week Elite Gymnastics Academy is a growing recreational gymnastics club in Oakville focused on creating a welcoming, safe and positive environment where children can develop confidence, strength and gymnastics skills. As we continue to grow our programs, we are looking for an experienced and dependable Operations Lead / Senior Recreational Gymnastics Coach who can take a leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the gym while also coaching recreational classes. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced gymnastics coach who enjoys coaching children but is also ready to take on greater responsibility, help lead a team and play an important role in the growth of a developing gymnastics program. The Role The Operations Lead will work closely with ownership and serve as one of the key day-to-day leaders within the gym. This person must be comfortable taking ownership of a shift, supporting other coaches, communicating with families and ensuring programs run safely and smoothly. The role combines coaching, staff leadership and gym operations. Responsibilities - Coach recreational gymnastics classes across a variety of ages and skill levels - Lead assigned operating days and ensure classes start and finish on schedule - Open and/or close the facility as required - Supervise and support recreational coaches and junior assistant coaches - Help coaches with lesson planning, class organization, rotations and skill progressions - Ensure appropriate athlete-to-coach ratios and safe coaching practices are maintained - Help create a positive, energetic and professional environment for athletes and families - Communicate professionally with parents regarding general class questions and athlete progress - Assist with attendance, student transfers, trial classes and day-to-day administrative needs - Ensure equipment and training areas are properly set up before classes and returned safely afterward - Assist with staff scheduling and coverage when required - Help coordinate substitute coverage for coach absences - Support birthday parties, open gyms, camps and special programs as required - Identify operational issues and communicate recommendations to ownership - Help train and mentor developing coaches - Support the continued development and expansion of EGA's recreational programming What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized and confident taking responsibility. The right candidate will have: - Previous gymnastics coaching experience - Experience coaching recreational gymnastics to children - Strong knowledge of gymnastics fundamentals, progressions and safe spotting techniques - NCCP Gymnastics Foundations training in the appropriate discipline(s), or equivalent/current recognized coaching qualifications - Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain it before assuming independent supervisory responsibilities - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - The ability to lead and support younger or less-experienced coaches - Excellent reliability and attendance - Confidence communicating with parents and families - Strong judgment and ability to respond calmly to unexpected situations - Ability to work independently and make appropriate day-to-day operational decisions - A positive, team-oriented approach to leadership Previous experience as a Head Coach, Program Supervisor, Recreational Coordinator, Shift Lead or Senior Coach is considered a strong asset. Availability We are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule of approximately 20–30 hours, primarily during weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends. Availability across multiple days is important, as this position will play a key role in providing consistent leadership at the gym.
