THIS ROLE IS SET TO BECOME A GENERAL MANAGER IN APPROX. 12 MONTH π Opportunity Overview Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to help lead two manufacturing facilities and support the General Manager in driving operational excellence. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished manufacturing leader who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is looking to grow into a future General Manager position. The successful candidate will oversee approximately 155 employees across two plants while helping improve productivity, safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. β What We're Looking For π Experience & Background βοΈ 5β10 years of experience within automotive manufacturing βοΈ Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing leadership or management role βοΈ Strong understanding of plant operations and production environments βοΈ Experience managing budgets, operational costs, and business performance βοΈ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills βοΈ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities βοΈ Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems) βοΈ Thorough understanding of Ontario Health & Safety legislation βοΈ Proven ability to motivate, coach, and lead teams π§ Key Responsibilities π Plant Leadership πΉ Support the General Manager in the overall leadership of two manufacturing facilities πΉ Help oversee daily operations across approximately 155 employees πΉ Ensure production targets, quality standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved πΉ Respond quickly to production challenges, equipment downtime, quality concerns, safety incidents, and customer-related issues πΉ Promote operational excellence while maintaining a safe and productive work environment π Operational Performance π Monitor key operational metrics and identify opportunities for improvement π Drive initiatives focused on increasing productivity and manufacturing efficiency π Improve the utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials π Support inventory control, cost reduction, and throughput improvements π Assist with production planning and operational execution π° Financial & Business Support π² Assist with annual budgeting and cost control initiatives π² Support forecasting, capital investment planning, and workforce planning π² Participate in business growth initiatives and customer presentations π² Review operational performance and recommend improvements that strengthen overall competitiveness π€ Leadership & Team Development π₯ Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and departmental leaders π₯ Foster a positive culture built on accountability, teamwork, trust, and open communication π₯ Encourage employee engagement and continuous improvement π₯ Ensure appropriate training and performance management practices are consistently applied π₯ Help prepare the organization for future growth through strong leadership βοΈ Continuous Improvement π Champion Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the operation π Improve productivity, quality, delivery performance, and operational efficiency π Drive initiatives focused on waste reduction and process optimization π Promote visual management and performance measurement systems π Stay current with new manufacturing technologies and industry best practices π‘οΈ Safety & Compliance π¦Ί Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout both facilities π¦Ί Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and applicable manufacturing regulations π¦Ί Support environmental and quality management systems π¦Ί Participate in internal audits and continuous compliance initiatives π¦Ί Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed π― What Success Looks Like β Builds strong, high-performing manufacturing teams β Delivers measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost β Strengthens customer satisfaction through operational excellence β Demonstrates outstanding leadership, accountability, and decision-making β Develops into a future General Manager capable of leading a world-class manufacturing operation
