The Vice President is critical to ensure that the technical capabilities required to deliver complex transmission infrastructure are proactively planned, effectively deployed, and consistently aligned to project execution; reducing delivery risk and enabling successful, on-time outcomes. The role is accountable for the strategic oversight, planning, and deployment of specialized technical capabilities required to deliver large-scale transmission infrastructure projects. Additionally, the VP will ensure the right engineering, technical, and specialist resources are in place at the right time to ultimately enable safe, cost-effective, and on-schedule execution of transmission line development and construction. The VP operates at the intersection of business development, engineering, project delivery, workforce strategy, and external partnerships, with a core mandate to de-risk execution through proactive capability planning and technical oversight. Accountabilities: Partnering with business development, lead the development of an integrated resource strategy for transmission projects, including engineering, environmental, regulatory, and construction-related technical roles Ensure technical excellence, consistency, and quality standards across internal teams and external partners Define and oversee a Build–Buy–Borrow model to balance internal capability, external expertise, and contractor support Ensure time-phased resource plans align with project lifecycle stages (development, permitting, engineering, construction, commissioning) Provide leadership oversight for critical technical disciplines, including: Transmission line engineering (civil, electrical, structural) Environmental and permitting expertise Geotechnical and survey specialists Construction and commissioning technical supervisors Establish and manage strategic partnerships with EPC firms, engineering consultants, and contractors Ensure clear accountability for delivery of technical resources across partners Lead integrated workforce planning forums across internal and external stakeholders Embed resource-related performance expectations into contracts and agreements, underpinned by commercial acumen Collaborate with partners to determine capabilities and the clear delineation of technical roles and responsibilities within JV structures Ensure disciplined integration and clear accountability across technical interfaces spanning JV partners, EP/EPC contractors and delivery teams Support the alignment of technical risk ownership and performance accountability within JV agreements and contractual frameworks Ensure technical strategies are aligned with Indigenous partnerships, regulatory obligations and broader impacted group commitments Leadership: Provide strategic leadership in global OEM engagement and supply chain positioning for critical technologies (HVDC), including early supplier engagement, capacity assurance and integration with JV commercial and delivery models Provide leadership in the establishment and alignment of JV operating models and technical accountability structures Provide technical leadership to inform early-stage project development, enhancing commercial viability, constructability and execution certainty Lead a team of specialist resources and partner closely with the GM, Business Development and/or other business partners on business development proposals Champion a culture of safety, quality and accountability across all partners and activities Communicate complex workforce and technical issues in a clear and concise manner Has the ability to elevate issues early and frames options, risk and trade-offs to make informed decisions Advise executives and influence investment decisions Competencies: Strategic Orientation: Translates project and corporate strategy into actionable capability plans Execution Focus: Drives delivery through disciplined planning and proactive risk management Influence & Partnership: Builds alignment across internal leaders and external partners Decision Making Under Uncertainty: Balances speed, cost, and quality in dynamic project environments Risk Management: Anticipates and mitigates workforce-related delivery risks Operational Excellence: Ensures consistent standards and continuous improvement across technical teams Qualifications & Experience: Relevant Engineering Designation, with 12+ years of experience in large-scale infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects Must have proven executive level experience in the design, development, delivery and operation of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. Experience with subsea cable projects would be advantageous Significant experience in transmission, power systems, or major capital project delivery Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering firms, and complex vendor ecosystems Strong understanding of project lifecycle phases and workforce implications Experience in resource planning, workforce strategy, or operational scaling is highly preferred The perks of joining our team?
