About the role
JOB OPPORTUNITY The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of: PARK WARDEN, PARC NATIONAL TURSUJUQ (Permanent - Full time position) Under the supervision of the Director, Parc national Tursujuq, the Park Warden is responsible for the maintenance of park infrastructure and equipment as well as for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the park. Also, the Park Warden, in cooperation with guide interpreters, is responsible for the comfort and safety of clients and may accompany them during their visits. More specifically, the duties include, without being limited to:
- Implement daily preventive maintenance program for the infrastructure;
- Ensure the availability and proper working condition of vehicles (snowmobiles, ATVs, trucks, etc.) and perform required daily maintenance;
- Maintain an inventory and submit to the administrative technician purchase orders for material, tools and other equipment needed to ensure the upkeep and proper operation of park equipment;
- Perform all construction (carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical tasks), development, repair and renovation work required for the infrastructure and equipment;
- Ensure that park staff are well informed about the use of vehicles and related safety regulations;
- Inform the visitors and ensure compliance with all the laws and regulations related to the protection, development and use of the territory;
- Report all violations to the laws and regulations applicable to the park as well as non-compliance with the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement to the Québec Wildlife Protection Officer and the Director;
- Ensure the preparation, logistics and proper operation of equipment used by park staff and visitors to access the park;
- Act as a guide during excursions, determine the route to be followed and the time of departure based on weather conditions and ensure the safety of all participants;
- Organize and implement search and rescue operations as required and inform local authorities as required by the Emergency Measures Plan;
- Cooperate and maintain efficient and harmonious contact with park staff, clients and stakeholders involved in the operation of the park;
- Perform other related duties, as required, by the supervisor. Required Qualifications:
- Technical course in a related field (plumbing, carpentry, mechanic, etc.), relevant work experience will also be considered;
- Strong experience in navigation at sea or on land;
- Solid teamwork competency;
- Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and French

Its core responsibilities are outlined in the Act respecting Northern Villages and the Kativik Regional Government (Kativik Act). Additional mandates have been assigned by the region’s municipalities and the Québec government.
