Job summary
Overview Enaly Consulting Ltd. is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Edmonton team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career EIT looking to build broad experience across building, industrial, and oil and gas mechanical systems within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment. Working alongside experienced senior engineers, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a variety of projects. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, including assessments, calculations, equipment selection, drawings, specifications, cost estimating, procurement support, construction administration, commissioning, and site reviews. The ideal candidate has strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in developing across a range of mechanical systems and project environments. This is a hybrid role, with the majority of work completed remotely, supported by in-person collaboration, site investigations, client meetings, and construction reviews as required. Mechanical Engineering Support the assessment and design of heating plants, boilers, steam and condensate systems, hydronic systems, HVAC, piping, mechanical equipment, and facility utility systems Support mechanical engineering for building, industrial, and oil and gas applications Perform engineering calculations including equipment sizing, pipe sizing, pressure drop, heating and cooling loads, and hydronic calculations Assist with equipment specification, evaluation, selection, and procurement Prepare equipment lists, schedules, datasheets, material take-offs, specifications, reports, and other technical documentation Read, interpret, and contribute to mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs Assist with the preparation of engineering drawings, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents Project & Multidisciplinary Coordination Coordinate mechanical designs with process, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings Communicate with clients, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders Support vendor document reviews and technical bid evaluations Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation Construction & Field Support Participate in existing-facility assessments, site investigations, and field measurements Assist with shop drawing, submittal, RFI, and technical query reviews Support construction reviews, inspections, field engineering, and commissioning activities Consider constructability, facility operations, maintenance requirements, and installation constraints throughout design development Safety, Quality & Compliance Apply applicable engineering codes and standards under the guidance of senior engineers Follow established engineering quality processes and procedures Support the delivery of safe, practical, constructible, and code-compliant engineering solutions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA 0 to 3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Ability to attend project sites, meetings, and other in-person project activities as required Interest in developing across building, industrial, and oil and gas mechanical engineering Exposure to any of the following is considered beneficial: heating plants, boilers, steam systems, HVAC, process or utility piping, pressure equipment, P&IDs, existing-facility upgrades, AutoCAD, Revit, construction, commissioning, or field engineering What We Offer Comprehensive total rewards package, including health and wellness benefits, paid time off, and company-funded professional development Collaborative and professional team culture that values contributions at every level, encourages innovative thinking and practical problem-solving, and supports a healthy work-life balance Hybrid work environment, with the majority of work completed remotely Flexible Health Spending Account (HSA) and Wellness Spending Account (WSA) Paid vacation plus additional paid personal time off Direct mentorship from experienced professional engineers Professional development and support toward P.Eng. designation Individualized career development based on your strengths and interests, with project opportunities aligned to your professional goals Company-paid continuing education and technical training, including engineering software, tools, and emerging technologies Opportunities to develop project coordination and project management experience, with increasing responsibility as you grow Opportunities to build client-facing and technical leadership skills Exposure to building, industrial, and oil and gas engineering Broad exposure to the project lifecycle, from assessment and design through construction and commissioning
