Position Description The Junior Electrical Systems Engineer will support the electrical design activities involved in the deployment of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, working closely with and under the guidance of senior members of the Engineering team. This individual will contribute to the detailed design phase of a project by helping to produce deliverables and engineering specifications, supporting the design of controls and switchgear panels, assisting with hardware sourcing, and helping to build test plans for major assemblies. As the Junior Electrical Systems Engineer builds technical expertise and familiarity with Eneon’s design standards and processes, the incumbent will progressively take on greater scope and independence within the Engineering team. Key responsibilities include: Working cross-functionally to support the electrical scope during the overall development of BESS projects. This will include working with multiple teams across the organization, such as Technical Sales, Project Management, Project Engineering, Controls Engineering, and Field Engineering to provide technical guidance related to the design, development, and long-term operation of BESS. Supporting the engineering team’s electrical scope in the design, specification of components, factory testing, and installation of electrical systems. Supporting the development of single line diagrams, equipment layouts, conduit plans, electrical schematics, and panel layout drawings. Assisting the translation of project concepts into detailed design requirements and scopes of work to solicit bids from contractors or consultants. Providing technical support to project management and project engineering with customer interface during detailed design. Participating in regular meetings, both internal and cross-functional, to identify and resolve issues, problems, or concerns related to design. Supporting parts and equipment procurement. Assisting the development of test plans and select test equipment for production and R&D activities. Taking a hands-on approach in the execution of projects, such as subcontractor site visits and fabrication floor inspections. Supporting factory floor and remote diagnostics and troubleshooting with on-site personal of equipment supplied by Eneon. Working with the O&M team to develop commissioning and long-term maintenance procedures. Working with NRTLs to successfully complete field level inspections on Eneon equipment. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar. 2-3+ years of directly related experience to the above Responsibilities, including strong internship/co-op experience. 1+ years of experience using AutoCAD. Foundational knowledge of NEC, CEC, UL9540 and NFPA 855 standards. Working knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical designs, schematics, specifications, and codes/standards. Exposure to designing electrical control panels and switchgear (e.g., through coursework, internship, or personal projects) is an asset. Strong troubleshooting instincts, with a willingness to build hands-on experience with electrical diagnostic tools. Exposure to inverters, batteries, and/or control systems (through coursework, internship, or personal projects) is an asset. Experience with BESS and/or other renewable energy systems is an asset. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation, or eligibility to register, is an asset.
