Could you help make English learning more accessible for migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum? Speaking English can be a vital pathway to connection, confidence, employment and participation in community life. Yet many people face barriers to accessing English (ESOL) classes. We’re looking for volunteers to join the TEA Project in Lambeth and Hackney and help us understand these barriers — and, importantly, work with communities to develop solutions. The TEA Project is a community organising, listening, solution co-design and influencing project. We’re bringing together the experiences of local migrant communities, English class providers and other stakeholders to: 🔎 Listen and understand people’s experiences 💡 Co-design practical solutions 🤝 Work collectively with communities and stakeholders 📣 Engage local decision-makers to influence change What would volunteers do? Volunteers could support with: • Listening workshops and note-taking • Analysing what we’re hearing and identifying themes • Recruiting people with lived experience • Planning and evaluating meetings with decision-makers and stakeholders Who are we looking for? What matters most is your commitment, curiosity and willingness to listen and learn . Applicants should be passionate about social justice, curious about other people’s experiences, and interested in improving local services. Community organising or service design experience is welcome but not essential; commitment, curiosity, and willingness to listen and learn are most important.
