Senior Legal Assistant, Real Estate and Construction Edmonton, AB | Full-time, on site | $80,000 to $95,000 About the opportunity Our client is a privately held Edmonton real estate group with more than 50 years of history, operating across single family homebuilding, multifamily and condominium construction, purpose-built rental communities, land development and seniors living. Their legal team is small, long-tenured, and sits at the centre of how the business moves property between entities, closes new home sales, and supports a large rental portfolio. This role is a planned successor to the Legal Manager, who has led the function for over 20 years. You'll join as the senior member of a three-person team, take ownership of conveyancing and property legal administration for the multifamily and rental division, and absorb the institutional knowledge needed to run the function outright. Timing is deliberate: the current project pipeline gives you a full year to learn the structure before new starts in Alberta and the BC Interior drive volume back up. What you'll do Own the conveyancing process for new home and condominium sales: closing documents, statements of adjustments, Land Titles registrations, tax searches, possession scheduling Prepare condominium disclosure packages and liaise with condo boards and property management companies Manage move-in, move-out and property transfer files across a multi-entity corporate structure, working closely with the accounting team on how properties are assigned and recorded Draft and process property agreements and related documentation for the rental and multifamily divisions Administer Yardi and Yuhu, including utilities reconciliation against contracts and monthly AR review with site staff Support accounts payable by confirming invoice amounts with Property Managers Produce monthly property reports from site and Yardi data Act as the day-to-day legal point of contact for internal teams, residents, tenants and external counsel What you bring 5+ years of Alberta residential real estate experience, with new build or condominium work strongly preferred Experience on the builder, developer or property management side (in-house or at a firm acting for builders) Working knowledge of transfers, mortgages, statements of adjustments, Alberta Land Titles and condominium disclosure requirements Comfort with high file volume and a multi-entity structure Advanced Excel and strong Word skills; Yardi or Yuhu experience an asset BC conveyancing exposure an asset Post-secondary education in legal assistant, paralegal or a related field Valid Class 5 licence, reliable vehicle, clean abstract and a satisfactory criminal record check (occasional use of company vehicles) Legally authorized to work in Canada Why this role Defined path to Legal Manager with full ownership of the function Base salary at the top of the Edmonton market for this profile, with flexibility above range for exceptional candidates Health, dental, life and disability benefits, flexible spending account, RRSP matching, paid office closure between Christmas and New Year Stable, low-turnover employer where tenure is the norm, not the exception Standard hours with flexibility in practice; most of the team runs 8 to 4:30 or 8:30 to 5 Active social club and a modern head office Timeline A start date by mid-November is preferred to align with year-end benefits eligibility, and notice periods will be respected. Candidates should have working knowledge of Alberta conveyancing and condominium requirements, strong Excel and Word skills, and relevant post-secondary education; a valid Class 5 licence, reliable vehicle, clean abstract, satisfactory criminal record check, and authorization to work in Canada are also required.
