Hours of Work & Work Location: Temp. Sat. 11a-11p (24 hrs. biweekly)- HCA I (CR7) The Job Responsibilities are as follows: * Adhering to all Excel Policies and Procedures at all times. * To actively participate with Excel Society’s Health and Safety Program; including but not limited to: participating with hazard identification and assessments; worksite inspections and reporting noted safety concerns; and participating with hazard control efforts. * To be aware of and implement as required Excel Society’s Safety Emergency Response Procedures. * Make timely and informed decisions that consider facts, goals, constraints, risk, Excel Society Values, and the Excel Advantage. * Following client care plan and delivering high quality client care. * Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan * Assisting with meal planning and creating grocery lists. * Using Catalyst system while providing assistance with medications to clients on time according to Excel Policies and procedures and checking/receiving medication that arrive while on shift. * Encouraging and supporting client's efforts to maintain/enhance their health and wellness and assisting client with the maintenance of a clean, healthy, and safe home environment. * Respecting client’s rights to confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice. * Maintaining clean and safe environment for clients and co-workers. * Performing general household duties and maintenance such cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry; and also outside maintenance such as shovelling snow, cutting grass, and gardening. * Maintaining/updating all required documentation such as scorecards, medical records, etc. * Assisting clients with hygiene and personal care. * Providing emotional support to clients and using de-escalation techniques to support clients. * To be aware of an implement as required Excel Society’s safety emergency response procedures * To actively participate with Excel Society’s Health and Safety Program; including but not limited to: participating with hazard identification and assessments; worksite inspections and reporting noted safety concerns; and participating with hazard control efforts. * Communicating with staff members during shift exchange. * Supporting and assisting clients in maintaining appointments, activities, or programs. * Monitoring client wellbeing, physical and mental condition closely and reporting concerns to supervisor. Accompanying clients to appointments as necessary. * Liaising with families, guardians, professionals and other resource members of the client(s)’ support network, communicating relevant client information to other team members. * Performing other related duties as required. Requirements: * HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta health Services as evidenced through enrolment in the CLHA Directory. * Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C. * Satisfactory current criminal record check.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an HCA certificate recognized by Alberta Health Services and maintain current First Aid and CPR Level C certification. A satisfactory criminal record check is also required for this position.
